Na sinoćnoj dodeli MTV VMA nagrada koja je održana u sali Nokia Theater apsolutni pobednik je bila Lady Gaga koja je osvojila 8 VMA nagrada uključujući i nagradu Video of the Year za pesmu Bad Romance.
Pored ove, osvojila je nagrade i u kategorijama Best Pop Video, Best Dance Video, Best Female Artist, kao i u profesionalnim kategorijama za najbolju režiju, montažu i najbolju koreografiju.
Iako je imao 8 nominacija, Eminem je osvojio samo dva moonwalker-a i to za spot Not Afraid u kategorijama Best Hip-Hop Video i Best Male Video. Očekivano u kategoriji Best New Artist nagradu je osvojio Džastin Biber za veliki hit Baby.
